City Response COVID-19

PRESS RELEASE

CITY OF WASCO OFFICE LOBBIES TEMPORARILY CLOSED
DUE TO AN INCREASE IN COVID-19 CASES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 6, 2022

Contact:  Maria O. Martinez, City Clerk
(661) 758-7215

Effective January 7, 2022, until further notice, all city offices which primarily provide in-person customer service will be temporarily closed to the public due to the substantial increase in COVID-19 cases in California.

Closures will help limit the spread of COVID-19 among staff and ensure adequate staffing levels for continued City operations. Details of alternative ways to conduct business can be found on the City’s website: www.cityofwasco.org

Most services will remain in place, but in-person services will be temporarily unavailable over the next 7-10 days, at which time the City will evaluate the current COVID-19 case count to determine whether reopening is appropriate at that time.

All Wasco residents are encouraged to stay actively engaged in monitoring the status of COVID-19 in Kern County. Get in touch with Kern County Public Health by visiting  https://kernpublichealth.com/covid-19_dashboard/ or call (661)321-3000.

Additionally, residents are reminded to practice good hand-washing hygiene and practice the recommended social distancing, as recommended per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Kern County Public Health.

The City of Wasco is committed to keeping our residents informed with current information. Please visit the City’s website: www.cityofwasco.org for the latest information and links regarding COVID-19.

For further information and assistance, please email the City Clerk’s Office at cityclerk@cityofwasco.org
