Transition from At-Large to District-Based Elections
On October 3, 2017, the City Council adopted a Resolution outlining the City’s intent to transition from an at-large Council election system to one that is district-based. On October 17, 2017, and November 7, 2017, the City Council held public hearings to receive public input regarding the composition of the districts.
Following the first two hearings, draft maps were drawn to identify the proposed boundaries of the districts. These maps were made available to the public as PDFs and via an interactive map. Subsequently, on December 5, 2017, and December 19, 2017, the City Council conducted two additional public hearings and received public input. During the December 19, 2017, City Council meeting, a majority of the City Council selected districts.
The City Council voted to finalize the selection of districts on January 2, 2018. The sequencing of voter elections by district follows:
