The City of Wasco’s Sanitation Division is responsible for the collection and removal of solid materials, waste and green waste in the City of Wasco.

Starting March 2023, The City of Wasco has collaborated with American Refuse to implement a residential recycling collection for all Wasco residents.

The refuse and green waste collected goes to the Shafter-Wasco Landfill for processing.  In addition to collecting solid waste from homes and businesses, staff also clean alleys and abandoned waste throughout the City. The City of Wasco is in the process of implementing a recycling program for residents and businesses in efforts to comply with Cal Recycle and minimize the amount of waste that ends up in the landfill.
